DIE LEERLOOIER

Die Leerlooier is a bespoke leather accessory studio and slow fashion brand based in the small town of Despatch in the Eastern Cape. At the heart of the studio lies a deep love for materials, textures and surfaces, and a passion to craft something beautiful and functional.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Birthed out of a relentless desire to ‘make something’ both beautiful and functional, I used what was in my hands at the time, which happened to be leather.
In my second year of textile studies, I met an old man who made leather sandals by hand. I spent countless afternoons after class in his studio where he taught me some of the basics of leather work. From there I just continued to make things I thought were beautiful and figured out what was necessary along the way.
